Clad State Quarters
Journey from start to finish on my Clad State Quarter set.
My coin collecting story starts 40 years ago. I collected a bit in school days as a fun hobby. Liberty V nickels and Silver Dollars were my favorites. I also collected World coins my folks brought back for my from their travels around the Globe. My coin hobby took a back seat to my train hobbies though, and I was out of the hobby for many, many, years.
Fast forward to 2009. I needed a new collecting hobby for fun. I decided to collect a full set of NGC PF-70 Clad and Silver Statehood Quarters. I had no idea what I was in for!!!
I started my clad set with a win on E-Bay. It was an Arkansas quarter I won on 3-7-09. And so it started!!!!
Over the next two months, I assembled a perfect PF-70 set of clads. The Delaware was the last one I purchased on 5-13-09.
I was very careful to buy perfect coins-no toning, flaws, or other defects. I wanted a perfect set!!!
I also really liked the new NGC Edge-View holders, so after my set was complete, I began sending them all in to NGC to be checked for grade, and re-holdered into the new Edge-View holder.
My last ones returned home to me July 1, 2009.
I have put them all into my registry set. The coins are all fantastic perfect 70's. All checked for grade, and all in new NGC Edge-View holders. Too bad I can't take a good picture!!!
The clad adventure was a great one. I have made many new friends as a result of re-kindling my interest in coin collecting. Hopefully, someone can help me with my photography now, as my registry photos don't do my coins any justice!!!!!
