Decided to just buy whatever I can afford whenever...

Greetings collectors,

First off, it's good to see Mr. Thompson back in the "numismatic" swing of things, and with a very nice 20 year old Jefferson. Congrats! Also congrats to Jackson on the 5000 views to a set he has worked so hard on to get it where it is today. If any of you have not checked out his signature set, to say you are missing something is an understatement. And last but not least a "hearty" congrats to Audrop in the Morgan Dollar set completion, I am sure he has just under a million in this fine set.

Me, I have just been rocking along not keeping to any "set" path, even though I have said this that and the other. I have decided that I am just going to buy whatever comes down the pipe that I can afford. I am tired of saying I am going to devote the rest of the year to finishing my Walker and Franklin half sets and going out and getting a couple of Mercury dimes and getting more raw silver. It seems that every time I say anything like that, I end up doing something else so I am making a final vow and that is to not buy a single coin that I can not afford and I refuse to buy a coin that I do not like (like that is really possible). I am so all over the place that it would be hard for me to get a coin that would not fit somewhere. But anyway I just wanted to go on record to say I don't know where I am heading with my sets. I do know that as best that I can I will continue to buy "gold" as funds will allow and coins surface. In fact since my last post I have been fairly quiet with my "newps" (new purchases)except... Since the coin show here in Jax. Fl. at the end of May I have only picked up three additions. All were gold and all were AU's. I have seen some very nice near unc. coins that look as good as mint state examples I have in the same sets. One that I picked up Tues. night at Heritage was a 1853 $10 liberty NGC AU 55 that has as good a detail as a MS-62 I have. I can't figure it out. I won a couple of $2.50 Indians on Teletrade two weeks ago and they also look "mint state". I got a 1912 PCGS 55 and a 1914-D PCGC AU 58. The "ten" and the 1912 $2.50 will be cracked out for sure. I have a good shot at some good "upside" and run almost zero risk at any downside. I have had pretty good luck in the past doing the "crack out" thing and it's always something fun to do in between purchases.

Anyway work continues strong here in N. Fl. but I sure wish it would pick up for the rest of the country. I know there are several of you out there that are having a tough go at life in general at present and mine and my families prayers are in constant rememberance of you and hopeing things improve soon. Until then have fun with your coins. We do have an awesome hobby. Happy Collecting! WKF
