The Good, the Bad & the Ugly - of my latest submission...

5 coins - 2 graded as I thought they would and 3 graded lower. One of these days I'll figure this out!

My five free grades I decided this time would be a run of 5 Lincoln cents spanning Wheats/Memorials/Birth & Childhood. Going into it I had hopes that the Wheat cent would be an MS-67, but was resigned to my usual MS-66 and I expected the 1970 Memorial to come in at MS-66, which isn't bad for a coin pulled from an original bank roll. However, I had high hopes for a 1988-D and 1995-D - I was sure the 88-D would be a 68 and the 95-D would be a 67 and I also expected the B & C to possibly be a 67. Well here's the tally -

1956 - D MS 67 RD - Woohoo! Top Pop 60/0

1970 MS 66 RD - Solid grade and very tough in MS 67- so I'm happy!

1988 - D MS 67 RD - ! Apparently I missed something on this coin and I'm sure I'll see it once I get it back.

1995 - D MS 66 RD - This one hurts even more... I really expected this one to be a grade higher or I wouldn't have sent it.

2009 B & C - MS 66 RD - Really wanted a 67 - but these are very stingy in the higher grades - my guess is light spots killed this one... Still not bad for a real bank roll.

I'm excited about the top pop wheat and a very tough coin in MS 67 Red! That one coin soothes the sting of the 66's...

Grading is tough to learn, but I'm getting there!
