Hard to do when nobody is selling...

Well, it's been a busy week, coin wise. I purchased a toned PF64 1939 5C Rev. of 1938 in an ANACS small holder. It will be the lowest graded coin in the collection at Proof 64, and the only toned coin I own, but it was so hard to find! It is the first coin I ever purchased in an ANACS holder. I cannot decide to crack it out or do a straight crossover. I am going to send it into NGC for the cross over. I have only two more Jeffersons to find, 1940 Rev. of 1938 and 1939 Rev. of 1940. It is so hard to be so close to completing a set, and these coins I have been looking for for a long time.

Good news on the grading front, NGC sent back two ancient Roman Imperial submissions as MS. The majority of this collection is now MS, with one having a Star designation. I have come to terms with the fact that the Roman Emperor Bust collection is going to take a very long time to find in all MS.

I made some headway in my raw Mercury BU Dime collection this week with some good buys, I bought four more early dates, 1920, 1923, 1927 & 1924. Only 18 more coins to go on this set.

Added 17 new coins to my US Type (raw set) this week as well. Just bought a nice 1857 AU58 Flying Eagle Cent tonight at a coin club meeting from a dealer there. Great looking coin! They type set will be the best examples I can afford.

I can't blame people for not selling in this market. Prices are dropping and it will be harder and harder to find what you need. No one talks about this little problem. Sure you can get deals, but nothing is for sale and if something worthwhile does come up for sale it is only being sold by someone who is hurting. That kind of takes some of the fun out of it for me. Sure it's nice to get a good deal, but not on the bad times of someone else.
