The New Lincoln Cent and a Bonus

Found some rolls at a local bank!

Don't give up looking for these coins at your local bank and save yourself quite a bit of money and frustration dealing with the good ole' US Mint. I haven't bought anything from the mint since the now worthless 1982 commemerative half dollar...

Last Friday I asked for the new Lincoln Cents and found that my local Bank of America had just ordered several boxes, and they sold me $5 worth.

I was lucky enough to have talked to the "coin teller" and she was very cooperative. It seems that all banks have the ability to order these specifically, it's just that they couldn't be bothered about helping out the little guy. Too much extra work. My advice find the coin teller at your bank and take her flowers, chocolates and a gift card!

Once arriving at home I picked up one roll and was admiring the pristine conditions of the cent when I noticed a slight anomaly... There was a very straight and uniform line running down from Lincoln's nose - too uniform to be a contact mark. Off to get the 10x loupe and low and behold what I had on the end coin was a beautiful die clash! Woohoo! The cabin's door, 6 letters of "E Pluribus Unum" and the roofline from the cabin are impressed upon the obverse of this coin.

What a discovery! Now I can forgive the bank and the mint for making me wait 6 weeks to get rolls of the Birth and Childhood coin.

Happy Collecting!

Todd

PS - There are several more of these in the first roll!
