Waxing Nostalgic
Weather changes do this to me...
Greetings!
A rainy afternoon in Salt Lake city as i write this.
Something about the cooler weather we get here makes me think about the past a little more than usual...and with the past comes the collections I have had over the years and now miss dearly.
I think about the comic books from the 70's my brother owned and I "borrowed". The ads for me were as great as the art or stories...the Johnson Novelty Co. "Xray Specs" and "Sea Monkey's" and the Evel Kenevel Stunt Cycle...GI Joe with Kung Fu Grip ads.....just amazing.
I think about the baseball cards from the 80's I had, and the joy of autograph collecting...then the comics I started collecting in the 90's.
Trade School strapped my money to collect ant farther..and a divorce robbed me of the collection I DID have...so this brings me to the great coins I now have and enjoy, and will never part with.
MY GOD it was tempting to sell those just a few months ago, though. I thought I was going to have to do it..but fortunately I listened to the "better me" and refrained. I would be regretting that so bad right now, too.
Things are a lot better in my household now, the collecting has slowed, but not at all ceased. Sure, the economy is still scary, and I just lost any retirement match from the county gov. I work for, and I was told there will be no raises next year....OUCH this all hurts.
BUT I still go forward. Nervous? CERTAINLY!!!
I will stand firm and continue to make head way into the next half of the SAE set....I will find time to post some better pics, too. I will still find a moment to share what inspires me here...yeah I know...maybe I post too much!!
I am a writer, though, and a collector....this site brings out the 2 evils that make me....ME
Onward and UPward we all go!!!
