Spending Good Quality Time With My Coins

This is an important thing...

Greetings!!!

I love to get lost in the details of the coins I have acquired. I have long held that each coins is uniquely a part of the persons life who acquired it.

I have written here before that the story and the feelings a person has when that person acquires the coin will always be special only to the owner of the coin.

I still adhere to this.

And since each coin is unique to me, and the way they were acquired is special in their own way, I do love to spend some time staring at each coin and re-counting the feelings and ways I acquired them. I love to look at the old Peace Dollars and think about how MAYBE some old gangster bought a drink during prohibition with one of these coins.

I look at the Morgans and think that maybe some old gunslinger bought a drink with one of those, too. You never know...but the stories can be endless if you have a good imagination.

I look at my pennies and think about how I MIGHT have bought a penny candy with a 1909 VDB S mint coin....how tragic is that? I'd take 100 pennies and get 100 Squirrels or Swedish Fishes at the corner store (I know...shut up grandpa!!) I can tell you this though, I check every single coin I come into posession with now...every single one.

My most beloved coins are and probably always will be the Silver American Eagles, though. It was close to the Thanksgiving holiday in 2007 when I first submitted my Eagles for grading, and the feelings of the holidays and the newness of my hobby and the chill in the air and the lack of sobriety at the same time made all of the feelings very special to me...I'll never forget also winning the Journal Award that same year and what a special time that was for me as well.

Enjoy your coins!! Visit them and the feelings you have about them often...it makes life that much better!!
