My last submission was a tad disappointing
Now I have the distinction of owning the single lowest grade in the census
I submitted a 2009 Clad US Territories Proof Set a week or so ago, and the grades came in this morning. Judging from the registry sets put together by other members, and by looking at the Census numbers, PF70UCs are fairly easy to come by for these sets.
Therefore, I thought it reasonable to expect the same. However, lo and behold, one of the coins in my set is PF68UC, which if you collect Proof Statehood Quarters, then you know that is not something to be excited about, as almost all of the specimens submitted for grading grade at least PF69UC.
Anyway, I looked at the census for that particular coin (Northern Marianas), and there currently are none graded at PF68UC. I guess that means when NGC updates the census, that number will go up to 1, and I am the proud owner of this great rarity.
Fortunately, as many here can attest to, clad Quarters on eBay can be had a lot of times for a fairly reasonable amount, so I went ahead and bought myself a PF70UC this morning for $24.95.
So, I guess I will hold on to my lowly PF68UC, and the next time I hear about one of our friends or neighbors going on a vacation to the Northern Marianas, as I'm sure one will (right...) then I will have a gift for them.
