Coins are an exciting way of life!

Non-collectors would think we are stupid...

I'd like to say that I don't get the same "Submission Fever", henceforth known as SF, but alas I can't say it. My latest submission has been in QC for 2 full days, with today being the 3rd! The suspense is killing me and I've hit the order status button 20 times in the past three days...

If we're not careful the CDC (Center for Disease Control) will be contacting NGC about a widespread epidemic of SF and their part in perpetuating a nationwide outbreak of SF.

Seriously, SF is a component of why we all collect coins and the reason that we all are plagued by that harmless little button called "Order Status". We collect because of the thrill of finding the next great variety, the ultra rare condition and to just have fun. So, when a submission is in process we are at a pinnacle of our collecting experience. It's not really stress but rather the exhilaration of the quest. I would liken it to diver's finding a shipwreck and uncovering that first gold coin!

This week is especially fraught with SF for me, as my local coin show opens up tomorrow. So, NGC is teasing me with "Quality Control" and the hours are dragging by until the doors open for the coin show. I don't expect to find much at the show, but somehow the presence of coins and people that think like me has a positive effect on my demeanor, so whether or not I find anything to buy won't mitigate the great time that I'm sure I'll have perusing the bourse.

Wish me luck that the 21st selection of the "Order Status" button will be a charm, ending this outbreak of SF and that the hours will go by quickly so that I may immerse into coin induced euphoria for a few hours!

My wife would say that I just need some sort of "ectomy" and probably a "coin-ectomy". She just doesn't understand...

Happy Collecting!

Todd
