What A Nice Piece Of Silver
I found a smart buy, And a stroke of luck too.
Two weeks ago on ebay, I found a listing for a 1953 PL Canada quarter. No biggy if you don't know what I am talking about, so I'll explain. The 1953 Canadian PL quarter has actual unkown mintage of somewhere around 1000 piece, divided over two different varieties. Now the question is, how many of each have survived and were not put into bubble gum machines by someone's kids. Only 16 of one kind and 123 of the other have been graded. Thus she is a pretty rare piece. Most people try to sell nice ms quarters as pl for 1953, and it is too obvious when you know what you are looking at. So, back to my story. I watched this listing for about a week and at the last 10 seconds thought that I would take a chance. So did a few other people to. I won the coin. It cost me $29.00 U.S. plus shipping. This coin is raw and the ms version goes for nothing unless it is ms-65 or higher. A bit of a gamble for this one, but the deal was done. I recieved this coin yesterday, and OH BOY!! Am I excited to submit this one. I don't think that it will grade past a PL-64 cameo, if I am lucky, but there is hope. Although, even at a PL-63 to a 64, this coin has a value around $400.00. I do believe that they are undervalued, due to the populations that have been graded up to this date. Anyway, whatever the case this coin will sit nicely in my second set(for my son) and raise it close to second place from it's distant 3rd right now. I'll follow up in a month or so after I get this baby taken care of.
