Haven't looked at the grades...yet...

Greetings Collectors,

My Collectors Society year anniversary always falls in late Nov. so I usually send a few coins off a couple weeks later, this time on Dec. 17th. I have quite a few raw coins but the majority are in the form of mint and proof sets 1950 and newer, mint rolls of silver eagles, state quarters, presidential dollars, nickles ect. I know that I need to get some of them graded if I want to complete my sets for loved ones birth years. The problem is that I can't justify the expence of sending off modern coins and wasting my coupon or spending the $ on the modern tier. Don't get me wrong as I love all my coins, it's just that if I am going to slab something, I want it to be a coin of more worth than a 1954 or '57 quarter dime or nickle. Does this make me appear greedy or ungrateful? I hope not because as I said before, I love all my coins, just some more than others. Plus I do think that so many mint and proof sets have been "broken up" down thru the years, those of us that have them intact still, should keep them that way. It may pay off in the long run.

Anyway this last batch of coins were several that half were not mint state but yet I deemed them worthy of "slabbing" One was a crossover, and in fact the only coin I have pictured in a previous post, a 1907 $5 liberty in an Anacs 62 old holder. The other five are as follows: 1915-S $20 Saint, 1892 $5 liberty, 1893 $2.50 liberty, and a couple of one tenth oz. 2008's one a $5 gold & the other a $10 platinum. My point is that the grades are available now but I haven't "peeked". I have decided that I want to be surprized so I am going to try to wait for them to arrive and then look and add them all to my sets. I will say this, that the suspence is killing me. Today is the second day I could have looked but haven't so I think I can make it. I live in north Fl. and the coins are coming from south Fl. so I figure maybe tomorrow (thurs.) or at the latest Fri. or Sat. I can't think of a better present from me to me for the upcoming weekend. I know the grades won't be great, but they are gold and plat. and they will be "slabbed" and that's the main thing. I will share the grades with you all in the next few days. Until then, thanks for reading and Happy Collecting! Kerry
