Another round of Goals for 2009

Maybe these are simple, but hopefully they'll be achievable.

I don't take that much time to journal on a general basis, but perhaps I'm leaving enjoyment on the table by not doing so...

My first goal for 2009 is to enjoy the hobby and above all else, no matter what happens to the economy, have fun with collecting! I've only been a member of Collector's Society for about 7 months and I've enjoyed every bit of it - from submissions and the nail biting tension prior to grades being posted, competition, learning how to photograph coins and the journal. As part of this goal I'd like to journal more and share more of my personal collecting experiences.

Collecting goals -

I have two main sets that I've been working on the past 7 months

Lincoln Cents - I'd like to move into the top 25 this year, which means I'll have to double my set in the next 12 months, should be attainable as the set I have now has been acquired in the past 7 months or so.

Roosevelt Dimes - Just started this set and here again I'd like to double the size in 67 FT coins or better. The "or better" part might not fit the budget...

I love the thrill of hunting down needed coins, utilizing eBay, On-line Auctions, coin shows and dealers to find just the right coin in grade, luster, strike and overall eye appeal. I believe that we should buy the best grade that we can afford. Most super grades are out of my price range, but a nice MS 67 is attainable and very appealing in almost every type of coin, with the more classic or rare issues I'll settle for a couple of points drop and for Moderns perhaps a point or two to the plus side.

I've never set collecting goals before, so we'll see how this goes.

Good luck to you all this year and may 2009 be prosperous for all of you and your collecting endeavors.
