That Old Familiar Chill

And the (lack of) hope for the new year...

Greetings!

I have just arrived home after attending my aunts xmas party (she lives in a group home as she is deaf and mentally challenged) where the directors announced there will be some really steep cuts in the medicare funding this coming year, making an already tight budget even tighter.

I looked around the room noting the many special needs people , most in worse shape than my aunt, and was troubled that they may be going without the meds and any other special equipment they will need. It is heart wrenching to think of this, and to actually see these people in need even right now going without.

All of this comes on the cusp of spending the past 2 days digging out of a major storm here, and grumbling about that, and grumbling about having to take a bus to work every day and waiting in the cold for that bus. I won't even mention the amount of person_without_enough_empathying I have done even in this journal about "not having the coins I want".

So, I was abruptly reminded today that I have not really had everything in the right perspective, and even though things are tough right now, at least I can still walk to the bus stop, and I AM going to a pretty good job that at least gives me paid days off. I was even able to find a way to get my paid membership, too.

So, I have been reminded to maybe think a little more about those that are a little more in need than me, and hope that I can continue on not having to be needy.

I am more grateful today than I have been for a long time for the things I have, especially my family.

Sorry about the "non coin" post here, but I thought this was worth sharing.

All the best!!!
