There have been some tough economic times for for this year....

Greetings.

You all know the old addage when things are not going well, we often joke "well, at least I still have my health."

And I have said that more than once this year. And not really in a joking tone either!! It has been tough.

There were even some moments when I thought about maybe selling off my collection and then just buying the whole set "when I was more able". But, we all know that particular day sometimes won't come again.

Now that things are getting back to semi-normal, and looking back at the days when I almost did sell my collection, I now often say "well, at least I still have my coins."

This is probably a good lesson for any collector as I believe we should never make rash decisions about the collections that are valuable to us all. When times are tough, it is a good thing to ride it out before really going into panic mode and doing things that will be regretted. The coins sit there and are a great target. Especially when you know at auction they could fetch some quick cash. But, I found that if things can possibly be waited out, things often do turn around, and you still are ahead in the collection game, not behind in another area. and full of regret.

Now, I realize there are emergencies, and there are times when things must go so that one can live in a house or eat. But, I highly recommend that anyone out there considering dumping your collection try to wait, and maybe if at all possible cut other expenses.These coins are not easy to come by, especially at prices we all were able to get them at sometimes.

God knows I have found some great deals...probably never to be seen again with the popularity of this field right now.

So, my advice, please try to hang in there and keep the coins you have.
