How I spent the 1st 6 months, spent more money than I should and loved every moment of it.

This journal you may not find very interesting, but I wanted do document (what I can rember) of my 1st 6 months of being a member.

I have been collecting silver eagle's from 2007 (missing a fue years) and really got my start with the Statue of Libery comm.

In 1999 I started with the quarters and in 2000 started with the full proof set (to get the Sac) I have loved finding out what my collection contains and hope to keep submiting coins untill my compleate collection is graded.

So going back:

Feb 2008, With the bonus I just got I have decided to get my proof silver eagle graded. After looking at price and what it takes to get the coins graded. I have decided to join ANA and then get the free account with NGC (Ok Im cheep).

After getting my packet I sent in 18 coins (So I had some gaps in my silver eagle proofs) In early March I got my resluts:

My 1991, and 2007 and 2008 got pf70

My Fire Fighter medal got PF68

all others got PF69

Great I am started in knowing what my collection is worth... then I keep noticing the value of the 1991. Wow it would be great to have some more of the PF70's to have if the value is going to up that much, I think to my self. So on to ebay I go (besides I still have a bit more of that bonus)

Seeing that It would be best (for my pocket book) if I started getting the latest coins, I started there, but wait in 2006 there was a spcial 20th anaversary set. Well it will wipe out the bonus (and maybe go into the tax refund) but if the reverse proof is anything like the 1995 w in 12 years, boy will I be glad I got it. (3 coins the most money I have ever spent on a "hobby", or is it now an investment?)

April:

Well I have dipped into the tax refund to get my 20th anaverys set, but I should spend time getting the rest of my eagle set in order. (plug some of those holes) and a fue more dollars from the refund wont hurt (right). So I collect PF69 coins to fill the holes.

Well I am up to 96 precent missing the 1995 W (this one I may never have)

Boy would it be nice go get those 10 extra points and move up a "rank" (NGC has done a great job in getting me to become an adict in coin collecting, because with just one more purchase I can go from 84 to maybe 81 in the ranks) (now let me say, yes I do not belive it is all about the ranks but the collecting, but as you can see by my presidental set I can be got by the ranks also).

So, 2005 pf70 is purchased and my pf69 is put into a lets sell catagory (I have yet to sell it).

then the 2004, 2003 pf70 are purchased, (I really should look into selling the pf69, but maybe a little later)

May:

Well with my one mega grade 2006 MS70, I guess I could start on my mint state collection...

and 2008 and 2007 & 2005, ms70 are collected

I keep telling my self the money is now an "Investment" and that I can some day sell the coins if I need to. (I still have yet to sell anything.)

However I am seeing that I am adicted to coins (and a bit to the poins) But it has to calm down now, the rest of the coins are over $200 and the only ones I was wiling to go over that price for was the 2006 set.

June:

well with my silver eagles at a stand still, I found that I was adicted to coins and because I have been collecting the clad state quarters from the start, lets look into them (after all the price on ebay is below that $200 mark I put on my self)

well you can see that I did start getting into the quarters, silver is what I told myself I would buy from ebay due to having the clad's in my possesion alreay. (but then there is that great deal that nobody else is bidding on the clad set) and you know what happens next.. yep another order in the mail.

(this is getting long so let me summarise and I will try to be better in the futre)

July:

All presidental dollars are collected in a pf70 even thoug I have ungraded ones. (I guess I am a bit into the NGC points, I know I should not be.)

August:

2004 and 2003 MS70 silver eagles are purchased. (on credit card)

Now looking for a chapter of AgAA (Silver Adactis anonymous)

I have to stop collecting for 3 months untill the credit card is paied off but I will be back.

If you see I purchase anyting in the next 3 months please give me a very bad time about being responsible.
