Raw coin submission

S&D Collection

this time i have bypassed the auction house and gone to an ebay seller with high resolution photos.....but unknown territory...the indian head quarter eagle....

Getting tired of trying to find nice graded coins at a good price(new collectors are great but if you want to buy anything new the prices keep going up and up) i recently saw a seller on ebay who provides amazing hi-res photos of his coins, he specialises in indian head pre 30's gold.(maybe will mention his name in my next post depending on the outcome)

So i decided to take a risk...i searched his listings and went through every coin he had up....slowly i wittled down his listings to a couple of coins i thought looked nice .....then the bidding began!....in the end i came out victorious and won a 1910 $2.5 Indian head quarter eagle....the price...this one was hard to choke down for a raw coin purchased basically sight unseen(u never can tell with pictures) on ebay....$1040....yes alot for a 1910 but then again the pictures were very good and the coin looked very nice....not a 65 but if the pictures were correct everyday a 64(watch NGC grade it a 63!...if they are reading this...come on give me a break surprise me!

Ok so the issues are....one ...i dont collect indian heads really and dont even know what a great one looks like...lol...yes stupid i know to fork out that kinda cash when i know nothing about them, whats the saying buy the book before the coin...oh well.....i own a 1925d ms64* so i measured the coin up to that....wow....this raw coin was alot better then my ms64* 1925d...i mean alot better! and the second issue is that im not sure how to tell if it was cleaned(well cleaned improperly...as we all know most gold was cleaned at one time) as i find the indians have little scratches that look like hairlines due to the surface of the coin anyway

So off it went to NGC...as im sure the few people out there that read this are aware...im an impatient person....very much so....so this time i bypassed the express service and went for the 1 day walkthrough....already the coin has been graded and is in quality control....my fingers are crossed as after my recent let downs with the grades i need something to lift me up before my next submission which is by far my largest at 25 coins

Anyway ill let everyone know the outcome when she comes back

and thanks to all for the interest in my 1881ccDPLGSA i had up in my ebay store...she sold for an amzing price of $4000! even i was happy with that!...and to the few people that asked no im not getting out of my GSA's...just switching and rearranging in order to take some money out of them for medical bills and my new obsolete currency addiction ...switched the 81DPL for a 81ms66...will most likely put my 1882 ms65* rainbow toned up this week and look for a 65PL or something

anyway happy collecting everyone!
