My interests are all over the place lately.

I ended up taking the day off today as I had a dentist appointment this morning. I MEANT to only take off 3 hours, but some things were happening that caused me to just take the whole day. Which is OK because for once in my life I get sick time that accrues 1 day a month.

I ramble....while being off today and looking at my collection, I realized that I have soooo many interests that I wonder if I am going to ever complete any of the sets. The closest set I have to completing right now is in my CGC (comics) set ..the "Batman: Year One" I currently am winning a bid that will get me to 50% complete. The next addition should land me in the top ten as well...I am ranked number 12 right now with just 1 excellent graded comic.

My main interest is indeed the silver eagles, BUT I have to say I am personally a bit disappointed that the "Reverse of 2007" has become a requirement to complete the set. I can't see myself shelling out the hundreds of dollars that coin is going for right now to obtain what really is an error coin...I not very interested in error coins, though I DO own an error penny that will be sent off for grading come October. BUT in my opinion, that's a whole other category...my feeling may change in these regards as the error Silver Eagle comes down in price, but I really do think the MS SAE registry should be for non-error coins. Just my opinion.

I am also finding myself quite drawn to the Peace Dollars, great artistic coin with excellent lettering and a beautiful lady liberty on the obverse. I currently have 2 in the registry and am looking to add more.

The set I am REALLY looking forward to completing is the SAE Proof set. I think these coins are under appreciated by all of us numismaniacs. I got my very first PF UC 70 as a submission with the 2007 Proof Silver Eagle coin, and I think the mint does their very best job with the proof coins. As soon as I complete the MS SAE set ( sans the error) I am going to work very hard to complete the Proofs.

I also find myself garnering a real interest lately in home brewing, and I am contemplating getting a good home brew kit next year. Did you know you can get a very good kit for under $200? And then you can get ingredient kits that brew 5 GALLONS of beer....excellent beer for about $40? I don't really drink vast quantities all the time...mostly during the holidays, but that would save some money for more coins buying and brewing beer that way.

Anyway, I find my interests growing lately...now just to be able to AFFORD it all!!
