Modern Coins vs Vintage Coins

I am just back from Vacation and would like to add my thoughts on this subject

If you look at my registry collections you would see that most of them are modern sets. Yet the center piece is my complete set of Peace Dollars. The raw collections that I own include no modern coins. I think that the value of the modern coins are very low in most cases unless they are certified at a high grade. I like to submit coins for grading and at least for me the chances are better of getting high grades on the moderns as opposed to Morgan or Peace dollars. I just don't have the access to the quality vintage coins so I limit my acquisitions to already graded coins. The modern coins, I look for bargains and submit them. Commems, SAE, or GAE UNC or proof make up the bulk of my submissions. I generally stick to coins that are in their OGP. I buy my presidential dollars UNC and Proof already graded as it is the least expensive way to go. The attraction of the Moderns for me is the low mintage of the commems and the getting in at the start of a series. The vintage coins I still like the best but there is room for both. Oh by the way Won an auction tonight for 2008 proof prezes in NGC Proof 70UC they are worth 3,623pts in case anyone is interested that's almost 26 Pt's per dollar.
