My Trip to the Bank for "a roll of 2008 pennies"

...and the dirty looks that ensued...

So, I had a (not so) brilliant idea of getting a couple of rolls of 2008 pennies from the bank to hold on to since the Mint is going to change up the design next year to comemmorate the 100th year of the Lincoln penny.

I went to the 1st bank and asked "do you have rolls of new 2008 pennies?" and the LOOK that came back my way was one of both "HUH?" and "OH MY GOD!! IS HE GONNA ROB ME???"

So, obviously the answer was a very confused "no" at bank number one. Then I thought, well, ACTUALLY that was NOT a bank, it was a credit union....so MAYBE I'll have better luck at the REAL bank across the street.

So, I risked my life in a kamikazi type U turn and pulled into the bank lot.

I went in and asked the previous question...with the SAME looks, but an answer more to the liking of any collector. "well, we have rolls of pennies, but the rolls are all mixed up...all sorts of years.."

Now, I was delighted, as I could spend two dollars and get 4 rolls of pennies to scavenge through...this should take me a couple HOURS!! So, I bought 4 rolls and did the scavenge thing...and it was FUN but, nah, I did not find anything great.

But, this may be a new hobby of mine, buying rolls to look through. The hunt is always a great part of the collecting process, and it's an inexpensive way to pass some time...AND you can always take the pennies back to change for dollars again.

No risk...but IF you find a 1909 S VDB...you are 1,000 dollars richer...and points ahead in your NGC collection.

Anyway, just an idea....thanks for reading!!
