"no longer an ebay member" what would have happened?

Greetings!!

So a few weeks ago I was eager to get an MS 69 1990 Silver Eagle from a certain seller on ebay. I saw the bids were still low with only hours to go, so I hap hazardly put in a bid, and then AFTER I did so, I read the description "WE NO LONGER ACCEPT PAY PAL" I thought "ooops" but decided to go ahead with the transaction anyway, as most people who sell on ebay really are honest. Obviously, I did win the bid.

I contacted the seller to let them know I would be sending a money order but it would be a week until I got my pay check and would be able to get cash to buy a M.O.

"no problem" the seller wrote back. Well, in the interim, I got a notice from ebay stating "seller no longer has account with ebay" so I did not send the M.O. and I am glad I waited.

So a lesson was learned there. ONLY use Pay Pal. They do have some security with their payment process. And the 2nd lesson...READ THE DESCRIPTION!!

My eagerness could have cost me, and pure luck did save me this time.
