Bold Strike Cameo Proof a Delightful Coin
And I am not disappointed....
I just received my first 2007 American Eagle Platinum Proof One-Tenth Ounce Coin and I am not disappointed. This is the first one of these that I have purchased from the Mint and even though it was rather pricey I think I will do it again as soon as the 2008 issue comes out. The coin is a beautiful figure of Lady Liberty and the Ultra Cameo is striking to say the least. The coin is flawless and very nice to look at, and the Eagle on the reverse is very boldly struck with Ultra Cameo texture. The word Freedom on the ribbon is reverse relief revealing the lettering in proof mirror finish. The design of the Eagle is a pleasing design with good detail and one I have not seen on other coins. My only question is should I have it graded by NGC? To take the coin out of its elegant royal blue velvet case seems a shame just to put it into a cold clear plastic holder. I guess I will have to think about this for a while. The older more ancient coins deserve to be put into a protective holder as a kind of preservation from the element after their journey through many hands, pockets and circumstances, but to take this coin out of its virgin surrounding seems to me unnecessary and somewhat of an insult. So for now I will leave it upon it?s throne and enjoy it for I am not in the least disappointed with where Lady Liberty is standing. Dawbid
