Contemplating my First Trip to a Coin Shop
The internet has spoiled me....
Hi again!!
OK, I'll be back to work tomorrow, so if you all can just bear with me with ONE MORE journal entry, I promise I'll lax up a bit here as I will have a new JOB to go to!!
Anyway, I have never been to a real live coin shop.
Yeah, it even surprises me,too!! But nope, never been and I think that is unfair to me as I miss out on the face to face social aspect of collecting, and unfair to the local economy as the local coin shop misses out on my dollars.
I have gotten most of my coins via ebay auctions ( which I shy away from now due to the "deals" are harder to come by and the "fake holder" thing has made this a risk) or directly from the mint, and lastly, from the cedar chest and strong box in my dining room.
I have then shared the bounty here through my registry and numerous stories and have made a few friends here along the way, but as a human being I was meant to be a social being.
With all of that said, I realized last night that I need some flips to protect my old coins I found, and to ship my Peace Dollar off to NGC, and my 1st inclination was to "go online" BUT then I thought about the OLD coin shop 3 miles away, and have decided that this weekend I will go buy them from there.
I am excited, too as I am looking forward to seeing more coins in person, and meeting the dealer.
Anyway, wish me luck. I'll write a post about my experience next week.
Have a great day!!
