Some Mixed Feelings.....

A day off work and watching silver prices exceed 16.00 an oz.

Greetings everyone:

Today is an odd day for me personally as I woke up late for work due to a power outage that took my clock off the alarm, so as I called in to say I was on my way, the boss says " well, we actually don't have any service calls today so if you want to take a vacation day so you get paid, that's really fine."

It HAS been slow at work this week. I am a heating and air conditioning service technician and my work day is directly reflected upon how many people do not have a working furnace or AC. Unfortunately for me, they all seem to be working this week!!

Also, I am RARELY late for work, or even miss a day...so I am kind of going a bit crazy as I like to be doing something.

On the other hand, I am glad to be home with my wife today, we have had fun watching the stock market reports on msnbc, and other networks. For me, I have been on edge watching silver and gold swing so high.

"On edge" I say...here's why.

I am happy that the intrinsic value of my silver eagles, mostly the coins I bought specifically "for drawer" at about 12 dollars each, is now worth much more. My "for drawer" collection will probably be sent out for grading late this year...the coins don't LOOK like they will be more than ms 65..but I bought them more as a commodity, AND because I love the silver eagles...just having them brings me joy whether they are "worth" $16 or 16 cents. But as I say, it is nice they have gained $4 on the market today..who would hate that?

Well, I kinda hate that!! :)

I hate to see silver get up and run because I know the result will be the mint charging more for precious metal coins..they HAVE to to make a profit..not their fault, already this year the proof silver eagles were $2 more to buy directly from the mint.

The uncirculated coins are not out yet ( I mean the burnished W's) so, I hate to see a huge rise before they come out...and then pay too much more, although I WILL pay what I have to..as I really enjoy the coin, to repeat myself, just HAVING them is my joy.

Did I mention gold is almost $900? WOW!! what a swing.... but no surprise.

So, I have a Plan B anyway.

I also have been just blown away by the Presidential Dollar program, namely the 1st day covers of which only 50,000 are made.

AND I love the Presidential proofs...they look GRRREAT and it gives all of us "newbies" a chance to start a collection from the very beginning without breaking our banks. The proofs cost $14.95 a set from the mint. The covers cost$14.95 and give you ..obviously, the cover and 1 P and 1 D coin, which NGC DOES grade the covers...I'll be sending my Madison soon...too bad I don't have the other 3......

Well, that's my rather lengthy post for today, can you tell how much TIME I seem to have today? :)

Good luck, have a great day!!
