It is just to what extent you are... (where are you on the charts)

The Starter Collector

The first type of collector is the starter collector. These kinds of people collect the low end or modern coins. They collect the state quarters and buy occasionally. They just buy and go to coin shows at random. They don't read or educate themselves and most likely only do the state quarter collections. I am sorry to say that these are the people that when they go to sell there coins that are worth maybe $2 each think that they have a collection that is really worth something. They are the kind that will get all mad because they think that there coins are worth a million dollars and think that the coin dealers are trying to rip them off. This usually happens because they never used a price guide to buy or evaluate their coins.

Basic Collectors

Then we have the basic collectors. We have the people that really like coins and do coin albums. They do coin albums but only look to fill their holes and really don't care if the coin is that nice. Once they are done with that album they move on to another album instead of trying to to make the one they just worked on really nice. They use price guides usually Coin World Trends which means they are paying over full retail and think tnat the dealers are giving them good buys and know a little bit on how to grade. These people may also read some books but really don't seem to understand quality over quantity. They would rather have 500 worn coins that aren't pretty to look at rather than having 50 decent coins that make up one nice album. These are usually the people that start off coin collecting in the family and help start their gran kids or children off.

The Strong Collector

These are the people that are collectors andknow a good amount about coins but just don't have the means to go and buy either high end or certified coins. These are the collectors that put together really nice coin albums after a while and then sell the complete set for a good gain after a while because they put a lot of time and work into the album. These are the type of collectors that might look at slabbed or high end coins but can't buy them. They know about these type of coins and dream about having them but just don't have the pockets for those type of coins. They usually become little coin dealers when they are older or retired anhd teach the next genersation so that their favorite hobby will continue.

The Advanced Collector

These are the collectors that buy slabbed coins, but they are not modern coins. They are the middle class working people but save their money and buy a really nice coin. They work on slabbed coin collections and nice coins that may be worth a couple hundred or thousand dollars. They buy slabbed coins that are from $500-$2000. They usually spend the $2000 dollars on a key date they need for their set. They are here at the collectors society but most of the time that don't win awards because they are over powered by millionaires. They love coin collecting and know the market for coins. These people most likely use greysheet or know to go a certain percentage back of the PCGS Price Guide. But sometimes they are to concerned with the price guides and won't pay over for a really nice coin. The only nice coin that they will usually pay over for is the key date or key dates that they need for their collections. These are knopwledgeable collectors that love coins and don't mind spending soem money on coins.

The High End Collector

This is the collector that spends at least a couple thousand dollars or up on a slabbed coin. These people usually win the registry awards here and some of them have big name collections that go up for sale at a major auction house. These people know that most of the time they will have to spend over greyseet to get the really nice coins that they want to buy. These are some of the most knowledgeable collectors out there and love coin collecting.

The Millionaires

These are the riduculous collecions that you see go up at major auction houses with their names on the holders. Sometimes these people don't really know much about coins but most of the time they do. For the ones that don't know much they go to major coin dealers and seek help from them to help them build one of the best sets imaginable. These are the collections that blow your mind and sometimes you need to stare at their coins for a while because they are just so fantastic.
