Type Collecting Is the Way to Go!

Everything is different...

If you are the kind of person that just gets tired of getting the same coin design 50 or more times than that is how I felt about one year ago. I was collecting Buffalos and completed the set in certified PCGS and NGC holders with most of them being in high grades. Most people would keep on going with the series and upgrade all the coins but not me. I decided to sell the set and save some of the money I made and put the rest of the money into my type set that is in progress right now. Coin collecting is my true passion and will always be my favorite hobby, I am not the typical 14 year old kid that will go and spend all his money on junk and then in a few weeks has a depreciating asset or in other words nothing to show for my money with basically no resale value.

Type coins are good because they are all different even though there are a few seated and barber coin that you must get. All the type coins are different in some way. Some are different is design, size, and others are different in the rarity. You may think that type collecting is all about buying high grade common coins. But, there are actually really expensive coins. For example, to complete the set you must get a Chain Cent, 1796 Quarter, a Gobrecht Dollar, and probably the most expensive coin is the 1796-1797 Draped Bust Half Dollar!

So far I have enjoyed the hunt for eye appealing type coins because they have been very scarce and I like that challenge.

Thanks for your time!
