The Things ( and People) I am Thankful For

It IS Thanksgiving week, NOT Christmas YET

I am going off of the beaten path a little bit here and am entering a post that is not really as much about coins, or collecting, as it is about being thankful and grateful for the health, career, and people who make everything good possible.

"Everything good" includes my Silver Eagles.

I went shopping with my wife last night and was astonished that the Christmas decor was already up, and being sold. I can't even watch TV without being fed "GIVE for the HOLIDAYS" and seeing gaudy trees in the background while I am being SOLD something.

What ever happened to being thankful? What happened to Thanksgiving? Are we really THAT greedy as a society?

I remember when we USED to have Halloween. Thanksgiving, and THEN the day AFTER Thanksgiving, the Christmas SHOPPING season started. This year we went from Halloween..then BOOM Christmas!!

I am sad to see this. So, please bear with me a moment while I say a few words of appreciation.

Thank-you to the US Mint, for offering such great collectibles for us all, and for the good prices so we CAN collect.

Thank-you to my boss and owner of the company I work for taking the risk of starting your own company and giving me, and keeping me in the job I have so I can take care of my loved ones and even have extra money to enjoy my numismania.

Thank-you Collectors Society, and NGC for offering us all this web-site, where we can all connect and share our passions and offer each other encouragement on our collecting journey. Without this place, we would drive the REST of society nuts...most people can't understand why we talk about our coins so much!!

Last but not at all least, thank-you to my family, my wife, my children, for giving me a reason to have a good life, and for putting up with all the stories of "how I got THIS coin...it was a cold day...and I endlessly WATCHED the item in that auction..."

And thanks again, to all of you who take time to read these sometimes long, neandering posts of mine. I appreciate you all!!

Have a GREAT Thanksgiving, and a peaceful time of reflecting on what you are most thankful for.
