To the American Eagle 25th Anniversary...and back to "the day"

Greetings again!.

I have been pondering for a few weeks now what the mint may do for the 25th Anniversary of the Eagle coins. And at the same time I have been wishing I started collecting in 2006.

Are they going to do another very limited reverse proof?

Are they going to offer something COMPLETELY different..like Edged lettering?

A person can dream all day about this.

I also remember the day I decided to start collecting coins.

It came about a month after I watched a show on either Discovery or TLC, about the US Mint, and the process that went into minting coins.

They toured the West Point facility and spoke of how every collector revered the name.

I was quite impressed with everything I saw, and like a planted seed, the idea of collecting grew on me.

I had some idle time on the internet and decided to go to usmint.gov, and I saw the Silver Eagles for the 1st time there.

Right away I oredered a Proof ( this is the one that subsequently graded a PF 70 UC) and balked at the idea of oredering the 2007 W Uncirculated.

"That won't be worth anything" I said to myself.

A few days went by as I anxiously awaited my order, when I learned about the 2006 W Uncirc. by reading a web site...and I RUSHED to the mint site and not only ordered the 2007 uncirc. I also got a subscription for both the proof and uncirc coins so I can get one of each every year.

I can go into draining some of my savings and my addition on the credit card to win auctions for more coins after that, but I think my journal here has sort of covered that.

So, for the remainder of the year, I will cherish and be thankful for what I feel like is a great start to my Silver collection. I really love the coins, and my wife is having fun watching me be excited for and interested in something other than just work all the time.

I am thankful for all of you at the Collectors Society as well for reading my journal here, and for the kind emails.

You are a great group here, and I am glad and proud to be a part of this.

Have a happy Thanksgiving shopping week, and thanks again for reading!!
