MY ICG Coins

Why ICG is not a top tier grading company part deux

If you are not familiar with my part one: the situation that I?m having is that ICG (I Can?t Grade) is putting out 70's that aren?t even close to the 70 grade. I have returned several coins, 6 to be exact, reason being that they had smudges, nicks and scratches. I contacted Paul DeFlice which is the VP Of Marketing for ICG, he informed me that out of the 6 I sent in Half didn?t meet the grade, and the other half did. I received my "NEW" coins back from ICG. the reason I say "NEW" is because they sent me totally different coins that the ones I sent them, which is good and bad because now I have a more carefully looked at coin, but it also means that according to the ICG policy " If the coin submitted for review by a customer receives a lower grade than the grade originally assigned or has questionable authenticity under ICG's internal review practices, ICG shall, at ICG's option, either (a) replace the coin, or (b) pay any difference between the current fair market value of such coin at the newly established grade and the current fair market value of the grade originally assigned to such coin.", I guess after the realized that they would be writing a $500 to $750 check they decided to go with option a. I understand completely, but this brings us to the other coins, they were misbranded and I a novice at coin grading was able to tell this, they boast and brag about their grading experience but it is only hype I?m afraid. They are going to downgrade them to the respective grade and send them back, so not only do I lose money I lose money and it?s still in an IGC case. I will then send to NGC for a crossover to see what the real grade is. Stay tuned.
