Currently, there are only a handful of status values that appear when checking on the status of your order(s).

Quality Control

Finalized/Imaged/Shipped

There may be another one; I'm not sure, and feel too lazy right now to go and check.

Anyway, my point is that there are actually many more discrete steps within the grading process, and I am sure that NGC keeps track of those steps internally (if you call to enquire, they know exactly where your coins are), and I would think that it would be a nice enhancement to this site if they would share those discrete steps with the community as status values when making an inquiry about your submission(s).

I would think that it would be nice to know that my coins are being encapsulated or going through post-encapsulation review, or better yet, being packaged for shipment rather than just being in Quality Control for days. As an enhancement, it should relatively minor, and I think it would make the submission process a more enjoyable one.

That said, I'm hoping that my latest submissions go to Finalized/Imaged/Shipped status. I've got a Presidential Proof Set, a 1958 Proof Set, and a 1960 Proof Set in right now, with several more Proof Sets in the mail to them. I love this hobby... :-)
