20th Anniversary Silver Eagle set

WOW SOLD OUT FAST!! But I did get 2 sets from the U.S. Mint.

As I was waiting for my 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle sets from the mint I was reading about how great these were going to be. When they did arrive I had to sign for them as usual at the Post office window.

When the clerk brought the box to me she stated that the box was ripped open on the side and it had to be tape to keep what was in side there.

The cardboard that the box was made of reminded me of the low quality cardboard that is used when someone buys cheap novelty items from china (you can poke your finger through it).

The clerk said that I should look inside the box to make sure that the contence is all there and not broke.

Seeing how the gash in the side was big enough to throw a cat threw it I peeled back the tape and looked inside.

The 2 sets were there with all three coins and I showed her the invoice that listed 2 sets and nothing was broke.

I went home put the coins into my safe and ate dinner.

After eating and playing with the dog I got on the internet and went to the Collectors Society web site to submit my new coins for certification.

As the web page finished loading I notice an article about the 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle set and how to submit it for certification.

It was the second line that made my heart stop beating. To have your 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle set eligable for certification the mailing box can not be openned.

So with that in mind I went to the safe and took out the 2 sets. I got out my microscope and started looking at the coins through the plastic coin holders.

On the first set I found one microscopic mark on the proof coin and the other two coins where clean.

I put them back and took a peak at the next set and wouldnt you know it not one of the three coins in the second set had any marks, blemishes or spots.

So I have a perfect set right from the U.s. mint and cant have them certified as as "20th Anniversary Silver Eagle sets" because the U.S. Post office ripped the box open.

So I put them back in my safe and will wait for the next big release on something else.
