THE U.S. MINT
Z6F a.k.a. as the W uncirculated silver eagle
If my info is correct a mintage of 209 thousand, how many people opened there boxes on the 20TH anniversary collection?
know the coin can only be graded as a uncirculated W silver eagle, this makes the mintage what 259 thousand at least? leave grading services out of the picture for a moment and add in the 250 thousand 20TH anniversary sets and the mintage jumps to 500 thousand or more, plus 20 thousand in the gold and silver set and your up around 530 thousand coins! Not as rare as it was for sure. take into account the reverse proof silver eagle, a mintage of 250 thousand period. the key to the set is by for the reverse proof, so why is this coin selling for $200.00 in
proof 69 and the MS COIN $100.00 AND CLIMBING. The 20TH anniversary sets in 69 are selling for around $300.00 dollars
and the 70 sets are going for $1200.00. This is a for cry from the 4-6 thousand the sets were selling for when they first cme out, what happened? maybe the grading services finally caught up and got around to grading the small time collector coins...
I'm not sure what's going on, but if you collect third party holder's or if you just collect coin's try to remember it's still just 1 ounce of silver, dated 2006. For me i think i'll
just keep all the reverse proofs i can, the market will figure this out soon enough. Best of luck to all the small time collector's, the way the mint and the grading game is going we'll need it!!!!
