NGC - A Positive Experience

Joining NGC was one of the best things I have ever done for my coin collection.

Joining NGC has turned out to be a very rewarding experience.

First, it is a great place to learn.

Second, it makes good common sense to Register your coins in their Registry and have a permanent record of your holdings should something happen to some of your coins.

Third, they have done a terrific job of grading the coins that I have submitted so far. They are very fair and I believe that they are very accurate in their grading - even when I would really love to have a coin returned with a higher grade than I was expecting, I have never found reason to dispute their grading. This includes one bad experience for me where a coin was returned in a body bag - but it was my fault. I had bought two coins, one from a reputable dealer and one from a dealer that I had "thought" was reputable. Both coins were Peace Dollars bought as MS63. The coin bought from the reputable dealer came back to me as MS63 and I was very pleased, the other coin came back in a body bag because it had been artificially toned. Whether the "other" dealer was the toning culprit or not I cannot definitely determine, except that he is the one who sold it to me and he has never responded to any of my attempts to comminicate with him about this problem. I guess that some people should be selling Used Cars and NOT rare coins. I should have suspected that the coin was tampered with when I saw the original pictures of its gorgeous toning, but I fell into the trap. Now I buy ONLY NGC or PCGS certified coins unless I personally know the dealer very well because they have the experience that I lack to determine that a coin is genuine and unaltered in any way. As far as I am concerned, I will never use any of the other grading companies .. stick with the best two in the business! Professional certified grading will ultimately prevent you from making a costly mistake.

Fourth, I have had occasion to email/contact NGC staff on several occasions and I have found them to be very responsive, polite and attentive to my questions. I commend them for having a first class Customer Service team, and this has strengthened my commitment to them as an organization that it totally committed to customer satisfaction.

Fifth and finally, even though there may be an occasional delay for getting certain classes of coin service completed due to volume, they have been vigilent about posting my Orders as soon as they are received, so that I know that my coins were shipped, received, and inspected immediately and they acknowledge having received them right away. I don't have to worry about where my coins are and that they are being handled securely and professionally.

NGC is FIRST CLASS in my opinion and I hope you will have as rewarding of an experience as I have had.
