It is 100%, for sure FOR SURE, someone else is submitting these too…

So today saw another census update and another big increase in the Zcoin population.

Last week we saw an increase from 33 to 41. Today we saw an increase to 57. At the start of the year I think it was only 29 total - including 12 NCLT S$10 coins.

The MS population increased from 9, to 17, to, now, 33.

Interestingly, looking again, I actually don’t think the update last week included my coins like I thought and I think this week's update does - especially based on the dates and the fact that this update includes some bond coins.

That’s what I get for trying to get information by trying to interpret the bones and the tea-leaves of the census. However, based on what I’m seeing today I think my Bond Coins did pretty darn good overall. :D I think I pulled an MS67RD, 3 MS67s and an MS66. I THINK. I think I think I think… still nothing official and this morning is teaching me the error of assuming I’m the only one crazy enough to grade these is me so an increase in the pop reports has to be mine.

That said, if I’m correct this time, the grades aren’t that different. They’re mostly the same. A coin I thought was a 64 might be a 65, a coin I thought was a 64 based on last week might be a 63. A coin I thought was an AU55 may have gotten an AU58. The big loss if I’m right is two coins that I thought last week might have gotten MS62/MS63 might both be AU58s… Which, honestly, makes a lot more sense. I was worried about those, really suspicious that they’d come back as AU when I sent them in but sent them in because I had grading credits and for the heck of it. I was a bit shocked / surprised by MS grades on those and the AUs just make more sense. - Assuming any of these are mine, but, surely there aren’t 3 people submitting all of these right now?? Surely. SURELY. What would be the odds of that?!?

Still…. There is something VERY interesting in this.

In order for those to have ticked the pop reports higher just last week, that suggests that someone else must have submitted some of these for grading within a week or two of me sending mine in, right around the time I was writing a bunch of journals about doing this. That is a very interesting coincidence of timing.

On the PMG side there’s someone that’s been smacking me upside the head in almost every category from P-1 to P-105 for about 10 months now and I’m about 95-99% confident this person reads my journals over there at a minimum and I did reference expanding into coinage in those journals too.

I’m really wondering if there’s another type set of Zimbabwe coins that is about to pop up and if it is going to belong to this person… I am REALLY curious about this.

Should I be offended or flattered if this person really is just determined to come for my scalp in every area they can for some reason? lol

A saner, smarter, person might look at this and wonder if they should shut up and keep their plans to themselves… but I’m not that person! Come at me, Bro! :slapfight:lol This whole thing just got soooo much more interesting. I think I’m actually more excited now. :D

A couple of months ago I’d written a set description for my Z coin set saying that set would have 70% of the NGC Graded MS coins in the world in it. At the time, if I’d been the only one grading, I’d have been right. Now, it’s going to be about 45%. Still rather high if we’re being honest,

This also puts my joking post about a cute, dopey, derpy set of top pops in a fair bit of peril. lol It may still happen just because some of the coins that I submitted have different dates than the coins this other person submitted. So they may still be marked as TOP POP for now even though there is another, higher graded coin of that type.

Can't close this out without saying, Sam is doing sooo much better now. Talking again more. Walking around again more. Smiling, playing, bein happy again. He woke up smiling and happy today and we didn't have to give him Tylenol and wait for him to come back alive again. He's doing well. He's going to be home all week and he needs to test negative for Covid before he can go back to daycare. I'm taking him to the pediatrician today for a post-hospital follow-up.

Interesting, yes. Coincidence, I'm skeptical.

100%!

You're cracking me up with this. lol I'm glad I'm not alone in being a complete collecting nut case, but you still have a ways to go before you hit my level of insanity. :insane:

So glad to hear that Sam is on the mend. Great news!:headbang:

:taptaptap: Just come clean and admit it! It's you! Isn't it! You submitted those! :insane:

:roflmao:

This is gonna be fun.  At the moment there are 5 slots that others have coins for that I don't and there's about to be 6 slots that only I have a coin for, but we have more months before the awards cut-off and others might have something in the pipeline... I'll be watching to see if I get a challenger and if I hold on to that #1 rank this year. lol

Lol, no it wasn't me but now I wish I had. lol I would have submitted them too late anyway, but I could've been a contender for 2022. xD

Well, I guess it really is "two steps forward, one step back." ... Back to "Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging."

image.png.df564dbec683258dd3680f3d7b614dc3.png

I was really hoping I'd see grades this week / before the weekend but... (shrug)

Oh well... Maybe there was a problem with a label or something that they caught in QC. I just need to try to be happy that they caught it, if so, and be grateful that I (hopefully) won't have to mail any Mechanical Errors back for correction.

one of my last coins made three trips from encapsulation to qual control n back because of a question on mint mark placement etc....if u r going to submit any other large orders n if u live anywhere close to a major show where ngc is participating u should go n submit in person, my four submissions that i submitted at the ana show all were received back on the 30th calendar day after submitted.....

Oh, it is so close to shipping, maybe tomorrow. :wishluck: My orders always seem to ship on a Friday for some reason.xD

I also had movement on the submission front, the descriptions were updated today on a couple of the coins and they are described as I had hoped they would be. ^^

Only 59+ more days to go.doh!

I feel like I've been telling myself that for at.least 3 Fridays. :wishluck:

I wouldn't hold my breath on day 59. lol

If it is tomorrow I'm just going to roll my eyes. They just had to make sure it officially didn't mail back until October...

Edit: Honestly, I don't see it happening today. I think they're going to make me wait another weekend.

It's not going to be today. It's nearly lunch time in Florida and they're still in Encapsulation again. They sent these back and put them in the back of the line again and it took them 4 days to clear Encapsulation the last time... I'll be lucky to get grades next week at this point.

Walking them up at a show to skip the mail room does not explain this at this point. They were opened and marked as received on 6/24. They were scheduled in early July. The only thing that explains this is them actively priorizing in-person submissions while these sit on a shelf and keep going to the back of the line.

i do not disagree...all im saying is if u want to avoid long delays there r other avenues available to shorten the turn around time, especially if u happen to live close to a show where ngc is participating, take advantage of it...im also equally certain that they have multiple tiers of priority in processing submissions, my comments werent to address only the skipping of the mail room, that probably only saves 20 days at most, but im certain walking them up at a show gets u a different processing priority as well....and as i mentioned before, in today's difficult to get qualified graders environment there could be excessive delays with grading obscure country's coinage....

I'm sure you're right.

But, honestly, I'm less irked by the wait than I am the failure to meet expectations. If you send in a submission when the turnaround times are 93 working days and it takes 95 working days, well, that just is what it is. The expectations were set when you went in. When you submit with a turnaround time of 49 days, and it holds at 49 days for a long time - not even spiking right when yours got in but well later - and it takes 80+ days and they just quote you the revised turnaround times with a shrug and no other explanation, that gets more than a bit irksome. Saying that the turnaround times are estimates buys you some grace, but when you go over by 70% there's going to be some frustration there.

When I sent these in I thought I'd get grades back by mid-to-late August but that it might get pushed into September. I didn't think I'd still be waiting for grades in October. I'm willing to build in a certain margin of error and a grace period - but 70% over is just bad. If my expectation hadn't been there, I wouldn't be this irritated. I'd probably be more like Mike - laughing off thinking about getting grades in March.

But, at this point it's kind of whatever. I think I already have a fair idea what the grades are and I'm just waiting on it to be official - a benefit of these being so obscure, the census drops hints. And I'm already buying for and planning the next submission. And I've never through all of this once second-guessed sending that in. It's still going to go in when I always planned for it to go in.

I'm just really frustrated and really disappointed.

Not today, my friend. 83 working days. We're going at least to 84.

Oh well... Maybe next week. They can arrive in the mail right around my birthday. Didn't think that would be a close call at the time I sent these in. :insane:
