First Purchases of 2015 for CAC Type Set, 1838 SEATED LIBERTY DIME, NO DRAPERY, LARGE STARS NGC AU55 CAC and 1854 GOLD DOLLAR - TYPE 2, NGC AU55 CAC.

My first two coins of 2015 have been purchased, shipped, arrived, and accepted into my CAC Type Set. Both coins are NGC graded and CAC approved with a green bean.

1838 SEATED LIBERTY DIME, NO DRAPERY, LARGE STARS NGC AU55 CAC.

1854 GOLD DOLLAR - TYPE 2, NGC AU55 CAC.

The dime was purchased from a fellow collector and CAC member, and the dollar was my first purchase ever from Pinnacle Rarities. I've always admired Pinnacles website, but this was the first coin I saw that I both could afford and needed, and I did not hesitate to pull the trigger.

The Type 2 Gold is harder to come by than Type 1 or 3, and this completes my mini Type set of One Dollar Gold coins.

Essentially, I am restricting my coins to only CAC approved examples, but this is by no means restricting the fun or creativity of my set. I think I have found many great coins within my budget, and that are free of most problems.

I have noticed that some minor rim dings do not disqualify a coin at CAC, as you will see on the dime. I am trying to figure out how much rim issues of those size bother me, and I keep expanding my personal criteria of what coins make it into my set. We all have our coin pet peeves, and I am (slowly) coming to realize rim problems are mine. Still a great coin with lots of detail.
