New to Coins

My 99 year old Great Aunt gave me a large drum filled with old coins. I have not been able to separate them all yet but am impressed with what I've come across so far. Aunt Inez will turn 100 on March 6, 2012 and she just gave me a lot of coins. A lot of the coins date back to 1864. I am trying to see what I have but not sure how to go about finding the information I need to understand just what she has given me. Can anyone help me with reading, web sites etc? To see old comments for this Jo

New Coin Collector

This is in response to my 99 year old aunt who left me a lot of old coins. I want to thank everyone who has responded with very helpful information. I will go and buy the RedBook for coin collection. I live in Marietta, GA and have looked up several shops that buy or sale coins but as you all suggested I should speak with someone I trust. I do not know whom to trust with what I have so any feedback on this would be appreciated. I want to know what I have but have not really thought of selling
