I never will stop collecting!!!

I never will stop collecting!!! This has just forced me to re-evaluate my collection and its future. So recently if you have read my previous journals I stated that I have significantly downsized my collection due to hard times. This being said I have also adjusted my sets to reflect my coins that I no longer own, which saddens me. I am undetered in my collecting however. Instead of procuring new coins, graded or ungraded, I am going to adjust my strategy. I currently have quite a few co

Some Unfortunate News - Downsizing of Collection

Some Unfortunate News - Downsizing of Collection Alas this is a posting that I never thought I would be making. Due to the tough times that has been affecting most of us for the last year and a half it has become my turn to be hit. Due of this new development I am changing my collecting tactics and will be focusing on the few areas where I am most interested and had the most meaning to me. Originally the coins that I was mainly focusing on were in the following areas: -Presidential $1 Pr

Presidental $1 Proof Set Started

Presidental $1 Proof Set Started So I finally received my first Presidential $1 coins that I submitted. I decided to start at the beginning with 2007 Proofs. My George Washington $1 graded PF70 while the remaining three coins graded PF69. Eventually I'm going to replace all my 69 grades with 70 grades as I'm aiming to completing my set first. I can't wait to get the rest of my Presidential Proof $1's graded!!!! I was going to send in the rest of my $1 Presidential Proofs to get graded ne

First NCS Submission On Its Way Back

First NCS Submission On Its Way Back So my first NCS coins sent for conservation went extremely well. The way that the two coins looked when I sent them in didn't really give me high hopes. However, once they conserved them and they were graded I was ultimately surprised. My first two Olympic Commemoratives graded at PF69 Ultra Cameo. I was really excited to see this. I can't wait to start sending more coins to be conserved as I can diversify my collection more.

1st Submitted Coins Received

1st Submitted Coins Received So I finally received the first five coins that I submitted to the NGC for grading. I am highly satisfied with the results of the grading, even though only two out of the five were a perfect 70. You have to figure they all can't be perfect, however the other 3 coins that I submitted were graded at 69 which was good to hear. I just added them to my collection so anyone can check them out. I'll be putting out another journal with my most recently sent coins to b

Upgraded Membership From Free

Upgraded Membership From Free So I finally took the plunge and upgraded my NGC account from a Free account to the Premium account. There are quite a few added features that I am excited to explore. I especially like the access to the NGC Census Report. This gives a way better prespective on my collection as I can actually see how many of a coin are actually out there. Another big perk that really got me to upgrade was the fact that I can finally submit coins myself. I especially like this

2006 Silver American Eagles PF 70

2006 Silver American Eagles PF 70 Today I received my 2006 W American Eagle PF70. As we know this was the 20th Anniversary American Eagle. I anticipate that the 2006 P Reverse PF70 will be quite difficult for me to obtain. I haven't really checked to see how hard it's going to be for me to physically obtain this coin, but I think that that cost is going to be the biggest issue. I'm starting to save fot the second 2006 PF70 American Eagle and cannot wait to I can get one. This will be an

Which to Focuse On? Commemoratives or American Eagles

Which to Focuse On? Commemoratives or American Eagles So I recently received a message from another member giving me some advice about collecting Commemoratives. I am attempting to collect a full set of Modern Commemoratives in PF 70 and MS 70. While I am doing this I am also working at building full sets of Modern American Eagles in both PF 70 and MS 70. This is going to be quite a challenge. A member brought up a great point about collecting the perfect set of Modern Commemoratives. H

New Coins!!!!!

New Louis Braille Commemorative and Decision of Collector's Society Membership. Today I received the first of my 2 coins that I bought. The one I received today was my Louis Braille Commemorative in MS70. The coin is in great condition and will be a great addition to my collection. Now I'm just waiting for his brother, the PF70 version of the coin. That should be arriving any day now. I'm still undecided how I want to proceed with my collection. Should I focus on Commemorative coins an

My First of Many Journal Entries to Come

My first journal entry and this will certainly not be my last. I look forward with great enjoyment in continuing my journal and to keep anyone listening or friends that I make to follow. Today is the first of many journal entries that I will be making. I have been collecting coins since I was a child, for about 20 years so far. Until recently I have kept my collection limited to the most common coins; Pennies (Wheat and Lincoln), Nickels, Dimes, and Quarters. These are what I have been col
