Addition to my colleciton
Well, this week I present the latest addition to my Morgan dollar collection. It is a 1878-P 7/8 Tail feathers. I can't believe the great price I got for it. I got it for less than $85. The coin is in a PCGS holder. The old green holder. I think I will submit the coin to NCS for conservation work and then have it graded by NGC. The coin is pretty dirty and I would like to see it without the dirt and a possible point upgrade does not hurt either. It seems like
Addition to my Morgan dollar collection
Hey everyone,
I ended up selling my 1887-P NGC MS65 Morgan dollar. It was a hard decision but, the 1887-P I replaced it with is very nice and has great toning. The 1887 was my only MS65 but I realized that my immediate goal is to collect the entire Morgan dollar collection in a minimum MS60. I can always upgrade the coin later in the future. Also, I picked up a nicely toned 1904-O PCGS MS63. I think I made the right choice....didn't I? I also pic
You should have your coins photographed by NGC
Well, I have been holding this story in for awhile and thought I would share it with you all. About 2 years ago, I sent in some Morgan dollars to NCS for conservation work and NGC for grading. I got back all of my coins in mint state except for an 1880-P which I got back as an AU58. I was floored. When I compared them to the other graded coins I had, the coin looked just as good as the others, if not better. I was disappointed in the grade an
More Morgans to my Collection
Hey everyone,
I was able to add a few more Morgan dollars to my collection over the past few weeks. Nothing big but it fills in those empty spaces on my page and they are all minimum mint state 60.

1878-P Rev of 78 NGC MS62
1883-O PCGS MS62 (Really nice rainbow)
1885-O NGC MS63
1884-O NGC MS63
1882-O PCGS MS61
Happy collecting!!
To buy one really great coin or a lot of common coins
I came into a little bit of money recently and found myself once again in the position of buying multiple inexpensive graded Morgan dollars or to buy one really nice Morgan. I had the same situation when I purchased my 1896-O Morgan dollar. I decided to once again go with one coin that was going to be tough to obtain in mint state on my budget. I purchased an 1893-P Morgan dollar graded by NGC as a MS60. I am so happy I was able to fill
A big boost to my collection
I finally received my 1896-O NGC MS60 coin today. I am so excited that I finally have a coin in my collection that is some what rare. I recently came into some extra cash by selling off all of my least desirable coins. Eventually, I realized that I had started collecting different type sets. I came to the conclusion that I should concentrate on only one set at a time, my Morgan dollar collection. I sat around for 2 weeks thinking whether I should buy multiple
I thought lower mintage meant higher value.
Does anyone else find it odd, that the 1899 Philadelphia Morgan Dollar is the 6th lowest minted dollar in the entire Morgan series at 330,846 coins and is not valued the way some of the other rare coins are. The only Morgan dollars that were minted in lower numbers are the 1881-CC (296,000), 1885-CC (238,000), 1893-O (300,000), 1893-S (100,000) and the 1894-P (110,972). It seems to me, that this coin is way under valued and appreciated. I mean, th
Sacagawea Dollar
I finally got my 2008 Sacagawea Proof 70 dollar today. I am so excited to start my Sacagawea collection with this coin. So far, this is the lowest Proof 70 of the entire series. I think this coin will only increase in value over the years.
