Hi Dad, this Morgan's for you

I didn't know my dad collected Coins until he passed away... I just upgraded an 1889 Morgan dollar today and it made me think of my dad. He collected Morgan and Peace dollars, though of low quality and stored in Whitman coin books. None-the-less, I swear I still enjoy looking through those books more than looking at my "slabbed" collection. He had an 1889 that was so worn that you could barely make out the year it was minted. And the upgrades continue

Replacing an MS-65 1897 Morgan with an MS-67... Although I only have about 57% of the Morgan dollar set, I have been focused for the past year or so on improving the quality of each example I have. When I started collecting Morgans, I looked for good quality specimens that were affordable and bought as many as I could. Hindsight is always 20/20

A good day of upgrades Yesterday I was fortunate enough to upgrade 2 Morgan Silver Dollars to much higher quality specimans. It made me think back to the the days when I first caught the collecting bug and simply wanted "A coin in every slot".
