Is there an inverse relationship between the price of silver and scarce coins?

a lot more coins are minted when silver prices are high If you look at silver Eagle population reports, the scarcer coins are in years when silver was at about $5-9 an ounce. Nobody wanted to buy silver Eagles for their bullion value then. So comparatively few were minted, or at least a lot less than when silver prices are high and interest in silver bullion is high. the mint missed a golden opportunity. Had the U.S. mint kept track of their production of the coins in the double prosperity sets to make sure that they were indeed produced on 08 08 2008, then they would have had a compelling set to collect. Also by limiting the number of sets to that day's production, the set would have been made more desirable. The ideal way would be to over strike those coins with 08 08 2008. adding WTC revovery coins to the registry...

I found the answer but it might not be the answer that i was looking for...(a pun on the rhythm and blues song) After looking up the topic on PCGS' board, I found several posts on this topic. It seems that the early coins were encapsulated by their collector's society, I think that it's called collector's universe, rather than PCGS, but using PCGS holders. If that's not enough to confuse a collector, I'm not sure what is. Apparently that is the reason for the absence of the bar code. THEN P

Australia Lunar proof series

Not MS but proofs from Perth. I've not seen any of these listed in the US as panda America, to my knowledge only carries the MS issues. I currently own a year of the Dragon year 2000 2 oz. proof, mintage of Proof issue was limited to 1000 coins per the coin cert. My coin is certified numbered to be no 826/1000.
