Waitng for the mint to send UHR was agony!
Today I logged on and found that the UHR coin I submitted 2 weeks ago was graded MS70! YEA! But waiting for the mint to send the coin was torture! I had ordered my UHR the second day of ordering and kept getting notice from the mint that it would be delayed. This was the 50th anniversary of TNA (Texas Numismatic Association)coin show.
I went to this coin show and there must have been over 250 different dealers present. I am in the process of building a Morgan collection and that was my main reason for going. Now back to the subject at hand! I visited several dealers and when I pulled out an ungraded reverse of 2007 coin to swap, they only wanted to offer me $225 for the coin. Did anyone know about the "2007 reverse" being minted on 2008W MS coins?
I just logged into my account to see how my most recent submission turned out. I noticed that NGC had "Rev of 07" listed under the mint mark. I called NGC to get a better description of what that meant. To my surprise I learned that the mint has used some of the 2007W reverse dies in making the 2008W MS coins. NGC states they do not know how many have been made and the US Mint website doesn't state anything about 2 differ
Mint Gold and Platinum sales
If you have been watching the price of gold and platinum these days, then you have noticed that you can not buy any platinum coins (except 1/10 ounce) from the mint. If they continue to not offer platinum coins for 2007, this could make 2007 year the lowest minted numbers for platinum.
