25 2012 FIRST RELEASE ASE JUST BACK FROM GRADING

SHOULD WE CHANGE THE FIRST RELEASES OR EARLY RELEASE to FIRST BOUGHT OR HOW ABOUT EARLY DELIVERY FELLOW COLLECTORS: Just wanted to say a few words on NGCs quality not the grading that was pretty good the holders were a different story. About half of the new First release coins came in a new NGC holder THE NEW RATTLER or more realistic THE NEW THUNKERS They must have ran these thru when QC was out to lunch. I would not be suprised if some of the holders fell apart they were so poorly sealed

Struck at West Point Label is only for Big dealers

An added Money maker the creation of a rare coin to get more money Folks: Unless you are a big time dealer who sends in a bulk order of a sealed Monster box with West Point doucuments. NGC will not give you that label as with most bulk deals the grading fees are $5-$7 a coin they pay only for the coins that grade 69 or 70 the rest get returned ungraded to be sold to us as raw coins. I feel we should all band together and send "THEM" a message by not buying any of those coins with labels that a

NGC vs COLLECTORS WHO'S THE REAL LOSER HERE ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

IS A WORLD WITHOUT THIRD PARTY GRADERS IN OUR FUTURE Greetings from the obsolete side: This will be my first journal in quite sometime. I have failed to comment on the hot topics lately because for the most part I have had no interest in them. American Silver Eagles are bullion I make money off them end of story. I got many chuckles out of reading about all the trials and tribulations caused by the 25th anniversary sets however they were very entertaining. Still I made no comments about it.

THE PEACE'S ARE FINALLY COMING TOGETHER

Auctions You Just Got To Love Them Friends: I had a interesting auction experience this week past. As I am always looking for bargains I bid on lots of coins. I detest paying more than greysheet prices. Thursday I came across a NGC MS65 1926 D Peace dollar FMV on this coin is just shy of a Grand. It had a rating of (2****) an above average eye appeal white coin, which fits my set perfectly. The coin had a reasonable buy it now price, I even thought about it for more than a minute,I have done

Peace be with me, Dollar that is!!!!!!!

ARE WE HAVING FUN YET? I AM !!!!! Greetings Collectors, Hoarders and Speculators Silver is down to $33 and change I think I will go buy 10 oz tomorrow. Speaking of silver I have added two frosty whites to my Peace dollar set a 1928 S MS63 and a 1934 D MS64. That secures 60th place out of 700+. Eleven places from being on the first page or in the top 50, which was my goal when I started the rebuild of this set, with six more coins to go the goal will be met sooner than expected. I ju

IT IS BETTER TO HAVE BID AND LOST THAN TO HAVE NEVER BID AT ALL

You win some, you lose some, what more can I say Greetings Fellow Society Members: I have update the Galleries for my Peace dollar set, ?I?M AT PEACE TOO? and my short set of Merc?s ?Short Takes?. I have been very selective with these sets and they are made up of some very nice coins. I had a opportunity to get a great looking 1927P PCGS MS64+ Peace Dollar I placed what I thought was a very generous bid and was just waiting for the end of the auction to collect my new PRIZE, when my bid wa

HEY BUDDY CAN YOU SPARE A DIME

IT'S MY DIME AND I'LL TRY IF I WANT TO WHAT WOULD YOU IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU   LESLIE GOREGreetings Fellow Coin Aficionados: Have you ever bought the same coin twice in three weeks time? It just happened to me. Let me explain, in my dogged pursuit of the elusive 1942 S MS67 FB for my Merc short set, you can go months with out seeing even one but recently there have been three of them listed on eBay. One was an NGC the price was $700 obo I made an offer on that one but could not come to te

THIS IS AS OLD AS PCGS vs NGC OR DOG BITES MAN OR POCKET CHANGE vs COLLECTOR COINS

THE FOLLOWING JOURNAL IS FOR MUTURE AUDIANCES ONLY Greetings Society Members: looks like we are finally getting a taste of summer here in the northeast. Back to back days in the low eighties but with some rain not the best but ok. With more predicted for the weekend maybe I will be able to get my galleries up to date. A lot of Ho Hum journals of late. Old subjects rehashed points myself and others have brought up many times. Since the reigning Society Guru has jumped on the bandwagon it must b

THE DE-VALUEATION OF THE DOLLAR (PEACE THAT IS)

POINT VALUES PLUMMIT I would like to say a few words about the recent update of the points awarded for Peace Dollars. Even after taking a 5,800 point hit and dropping 40 places in the ranking. It is a good thing. It evens the playing field by decreasing the point values between the grades. The difference between say a MS65 and MS66 which used to be 500 points is now 100 and the other grades are similar. Some of the leaders in the set lost as many as 70,000 points, how would you like going to b

DOLLARS TO DIMES, PCGS NGC, MODEREN COINS

A REAL "POE POUR REE" Greetings Society Members: Another day another dime, how about that. I found a nice 1942 D MS67 FB in a PCGS holder to day. The price was right so I grabbed it. It is one of the easier dates to find in 67 FB. Since I have only the 1942 S to go and it will be a tuff one. I have shifted gears back to my Peace Dollar set. After up grading the 1921 to MS64 and adding a 1923 S in MS64 the bet pick up was a 1926 in MS65+ all three coins residing in PCGS holders. The set has mo

ADD ONE MORE MS67 FB

LET ME SAY THIS ABOUT THAT Greetings fellow coin Aficionados: I have been doing a lot of looking lately but not much buying; having raised my standards the coins that I?m looking for are much harder to find. I have passed up a lot of coins with really good prices because frankly they were ugly, which I?m sure is the main reason that they were a bargain. I was lucky enough to pick up a pretty 1943 S NGC MS67 FB, believe me this is a tuff one to get a hold of. The coin is toned but looks pret

SHORT SET LONG ON GEMS

MORE DIMES? WHAT ELSE!! CHECK IT OUT!! Collectors one and all: Scored two more great Merc?s for the short set, a 1943 P NGC MS 67 FB and a NGC MS66 FB 1945 S. The addition of those two pushed the set in to 15th place. I have three more up grades to go. I need a 42 D, 42 S, and 43 S all in 67 FB. The 1942 S is a tuff coin and will probably take a while to get. I will try to get the Gallery updated hopefully by the weekend if I don?t add any new coins that is.

MERCURY DIMES ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES

A Work in Progress Check out the slide showFellow Enthusiasts: I added another super good Mercury Dime to my short set, a real gem 1944 S MS67 FB. It seems that every time I catch up with my Gallery pictures I go and add a new coin. I have more work to do on my Galleries this weekend so what is just one more. My pictures are final coming out pretty good and I love the Slide Show feature. Five more upgrades and I will be able to rest (FAT CHANCE) with the 1943P MS67 FB at the top of the list. Al

COIN COLLECTING IS A HOBBY or OBSESSION not COMPETITION SOME MAY DISAGREE!!!!!

Collect what you like, like what you Collect. Coin Collectors: Once upon a time I too got caught up in the points race. I had some high-ranking sets including a #1 shared with around 25 others and received two awards for a 1st place set with the 25 others. The coins were easy to get, not very expensive and worth lots of points, I amassed over 100,000 registry points. I finally realized that I did not even like these coins and even with their cost being relatively low that they were in fact l

I WAS UP NOW I'M DOWN WHAT AWAY TO END A WINNING STREAK

THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPEN HAS INDEED HAPPEND Greetings From the depths of despair: The day started out so well, the coin that I had been waiting for arrived. I opened it and it was everything that I hoped it would be and more. I turned on my computer logged on to the society web site. Went to the appropriate set held my beautiful 1942 MS67 FB in my hand and proceed to enter the number double checking to make sure I was entering in the right number clicked on the save button and wa

JUST CALL ME OLD FASHION BUT IT'S THE WAY I FEEL.

THE PAST OR THE PRESENT WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE? I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT I SPARED YOU THIS TIME.Greetings Vibrant Community Members: After reading Beaw?s post I had to write a little about the subject. As some of you know I am not a fan of modern coins. Most are boring and in my opinion have little value. If the minting of coins of yester year is compared with the minting of today?s coins we would see that as in all modern manufacturing the human element has been removed as much as possible. T

The POWER of COINS my DRUG of CHOICE

Dimes and Dollars both old but still NEW GEETINGS FELLOW COIN COLLECTORS &/or HOARDERS: It was an exceptional weekend for acquiring coins for me any way. I won two coins at auction and one I purchased from a friend. The auctions were both on eBay. I got a excellent 1942 MS67 FB NGC Mercury dime for 60% of FMV pop 213 w/ 1 graded better, and a 1922 S Peace dollar in PCGS MS64 slightly below Grey sheet bid in both cases I made the minimum bid and won with that. MY PEACE OF THE CAKE

HERE WE GO AGAIN MOVEIN UP AND MOVIN IN Folks: I have just added a PCGS MS66 OGH 1923P to Peace at a Price set and with only 37% finished it has 1000 pts more than its predecessor, and is solidly in the top one hundred. It is also second lowest in complition percentage on the intire pare two which in most cases means places gained are places kept. the auction I won this coin in was a ho hum auction by that I mean My Bid was the only bid. Peace Be with Me

Let Peace Reign Greetings Fellow Coin Lovers: As I anxiously await the out come of a Monday Night Auction, to see if I will win the third one of the five MS66?s that I plan to have in my peace dollar collection. An out of sight 1923 P PCGS blazing white stunner in an OGH. If I win it, it will put me in the top spot that my previous set held the difference being only one third the amount of coins. I?ll let you n know how it turns out. Later JimL4004

THINGS COULDN'T BE BETTER OR COULD THEY

REMERBERING GOOD TIMES, LIVING BETTER TIMES, LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BEST OF TIMES. Greetings Fellow Coin Aficionados: What a wonderful beginning to the year 2011!!! I finally met my goal of removing all the modern coins from my sets at least most of them, there are however a few I will be keeping for now, a few $5 MS70 gold commems, my $5 2008 baby Buffalo also MS70 and of course the Proof 70 $1 silver World War II Commem. EAGLES, DOLLARS & DIMES

A new Peace of the puzzle, More Full Split Bands and early release MS70 Silver Eagles. Greetings Vibrant Community Members: I have added another high-grade coin to the new and improved Peace Dollar Set that I am building. A really brilliant 1922P NGC MS66. It will join the 1924P that will make up the five-year run of (22-26) of MS66?s that will anchor this set. I got both of them for quite a bit below Grey Sheet bid, which to me is the fair market value. Then I have always been pretty good at

REVAMPED, RENEWED & DONE OVER

PEACE INDIANS EAGLES OH MY Salutations Fellow Numismatists: It has been several months since my last entry in the journal. I have been very busy recreating my humble collections in a new direction. I have forsaken modern coins for the most part and will remove the remaining ones some time in the future. I would sell the Presidents dollars in a minute if I could get out of them what I put in, but that isn?t ever going to happen as they are pretty much worthless except in point value. An 1895o
