Help Needed identifying this coin/ monetary weight

The only information available when I bought this was that it probably circulated or was used in Northern Quebec in the early 18th century. Made of brass with a weight of about .83 oz, about a square shape. Was this circulating or just used as a weight? Any info will be very appreciated. Thank you !
