$5 and $10 Canadian gold coins

I heard a rumor that the Bank of Canada had a lot of the 1912 and following gold coins stored in their vaults for years, thus many remain in UNC condition.

 

Can anyone substantiate this? When were they released?

I don't know if the Bank of Canada had bags of these coins. These issues are fairly common in AU/UNC. condition but very scarce in gem condition. Gem quality $5 and $10 coins are seldomly offered for sale publicly.
