What's you're favorite coin?

I like all big silver coins, but the weird denominations are my favorite US coins... 2 cent pieces, 3 cent silvers and nickels, 20 cent pieces.

The Ultra High Relief $20 Saint Gaudens (Current favorite even if ownership is not very plausible)

The Buffalo Dollar (If only they had recessed the date in the Nickels... that was an improvement I liked)

And one that I'm not sure if many people like, but I actually really like the Liberty Cap gold pieces.

And for one that doesn't break the bank... the yet to be released New Zealand $1 LotR commem.

I really like the modern bullion Eagle coins and some modern commems as far as design and sheer perfection in execution are concerned, but I guess my favorite among standard circulating coinage is the Peace dollar. A nice satiny, lustrous, well struck Peace really makes my day!

It's a difficult question to answer, actually. The more I learn about coins like the Buffalo nickel and Winged Liberty dime, the more I appreciate these little gems. I especially like nicely toned Buffalos. Some of those are spectacular.

Welcome to the NGC community!

I agree about the incused date! Think about how different the market would be now if they had that slight design modification.

Is that the 50th year of Mt Everest? If it is, I got it and it's not too impressive. frown.gif

As a set, I think that the Winged Liberty dimes are awesome-looking! They are compact yet, beautiful.

I was thinking about splurging and buying the rest of the modern dollar commem's in ms and proof but I decided to pay ahead on some of my property instead. Boy, it's tough: be responsible or get some more trinkets. Bummer that I chose to be responsible, instead.

This is still my all-time favorite coin (that I own), tho not US. I overpaid ($350), it's undergraded (58-62 "super slider" IMHO) and I still like it better than most MS red examples I've seen. laugh.gif Everyone else here is probably sick of seeing it, so thanks for the excuse wink.gif

1. Coiled Hair Stella

2. Ultra High Relief $20 Saint Gaudens

3. Any (or all) of the Proof Amazonain Gold Set

None of these coins is available to buy - so I can safely "lust" for them - If you want to see some really neat coins, find a copy of David Akers book - United States Gold Patterns - true eye candy laugh.gif
