How much "rim damage" does a coin need before it gets BB'd?

I believe that particular example would not get bodybagged, but I do think the TPGs are a little over-zealous in what they call "rim damage". I've seen a few coins that had prominent rim bumps get bodybagged, but would have been perfectly acceptable to me as a collector (albeit at a small discount). I have seen quite a few coins that had minor rim dings that were appropriately net-graded, and think that's the way most of these situations should be addressed.

I'd bet your coin would get holdered, but probably at a one point drop from where it otherwise would have graded.

I think that this piece would grade.

I've seen a fair number of Morgan dollars with rim nicks in holders. It seems that if the holder partially hides the problem it gets into a holder.

One thing I will warn you about, however. If the rims have been filed to remove a rim bump, the coin will get BB'd for sure.
