Trivia Question (Early Dollars)

7 posts in this topic

For you Early Dollar aficionados -- hello, anyone out there? -- I want to see how well you know the varieties beyond the standard Red Book ones.

Identify, by the BB or Bol numbers, the following nicknamed varieties:

1. Bar

2. Apostrophe

3. Comet

Whoever gets all three gets my standard prize...

After I've had a few Apostrophe's at the Bar, I tend to see Comets.

Oh, the contest wasn't to see who could be the first to use all three in a sentence? Oops!

Well, perhaps we can answer this collectively! Here are two answers, let's see if someone can supply the final one:

Bar = 1795 B5

Apostrophe S = 1799 B9

Comet = 1800 B13, also B18a. (Bolender mistook B13 and B18 as separate die marriages, when they're simply different rev die states.)
