Slab Question

What hold ngc slabs together? I have one with a gold dollar inisde they is kind of weird and im wondering if its been tampered with. Also if it was tampered with is there anything I can do? 893crossfingers-thumb.gif

How you doing? My guess is that it would be very difficult to crack a slab open without destroying the slab. At least that's from my experience. I have never been able to do so without ending up with more than two pieces. 27_laughing.gif

Yes it would be hard but I know they can do it. Its a gold dollar which is correctly graded au-58. I doubt its a counterfeit as it shows all the signs of wear and marks that my other coins do. BTW im great.

My guess is that they are HF ultrasonic bonded. Pretty hard to tamper with unless the sonic horn is badly tuned.

That looks alright to me. Many people have wondered if their slab has been tampered with because of the irregularity of the ridges and the such. From my experience if an NGC slab has been pryed open just a little, the plastic will crack and shatter, it's not very plyable.
