Michael, are the Barber and Trade dollar new additions to the collection? I've never seen you post them before. I've seen the Walker. I especially love the Barber. Very nice. Hey, I also have an 1874 trade dollar. You've seen it before. Wanna trade? crazy.gif Afterall, they are trade dollars. grin.gif So, mine has a few hairlines. Big deal. Come on, be a sport. smirk.gif

Michael,

Thanks for posting these three gems. I love original white coins. That soft velecety patina that they aquire over time is priceless. The Barber Half is my kind of coin.

Don't you think the Trade Dollar has had a layer or two removed in its life?

Shame on you, Michael, for teasing me *again* with that 1874 Trade Dollar.

Since that coin will be mine in the future -- you promised! -- then I ask that you stop showing it around and having it lose all freshness!

As penance, I will also accept first shot at the other coins in your collection as well!

hi there victor the onwer of the barber and the trade has had them a long time! victor in my opinion your 1874 is a keeper a one of a kind coin!! cloud9.gif and also the owner of these coins is not selling/tradeing at the moment but you never know what the future holds!

thanks evp you are a true advanced collector and you are first on the list as you asked first!

seth in actuality this 1874 trade has never been dipped or played with at all see the original grease mark imparted from the fresh dies? the line at 5 pm on the obverse

seth the problem with scans is most all of the time it really doesnot show the coin the way it would like sight seen in person and with this coin the scan just does not show the total originality of this coin or its monster lustre or its thick skin but IF YOU SAW THIS COIN IN PERSON THEN ALL WOULD BE MADE CLEAR TO YOU AN EPITHANY SO TO SPEAK as then sight seen it is a no brainer totally original unmessed with coin unfortunately with the scan which by the way is great it just doesnot show the total originality of this coin

now usually most coin photos the photo is much better than the coin! in this case it is the opposite the scan is good but the coin in person much better.!!!

but if you ever saw this coin sight seen in person then all your questions would be answered as with this coin and this scan this trade really needs to be seen sight seen in person to fully apprecaite what i am saying about the coin in person a neat original never played with no brainer coin but again must be sight seen but unfortunately all we gots on here is the scan

i hope everyone has a great holiday weekend with no thinking about coins and just having a stress free enjoyable time working or not hopefully a little fun !

sincerely red white and blue

Each one is a beautiful coin and I can believe that the Trade dollar is an original piece as it seems to have a decent layer of original patina dusting across the surfaces. As most of you already know, I love toned coins, however, I also love white coins. The key is that the coin should be as original as possible.

In my own collection, I have an original roll of 1932 Washington quarters that are all nearly white and that all have fabulous, thick, phlegm-like surfaces with a coruscating, blue-gold lustrous haze. The attached picture is not of one of those coins, but, is of a coin that is nearly white and that is in my collection. It is completely original.

Hi TomB,

Don't you think you could put at least one of them on the Ivy League Coin site so I can put it in a shopping cart smile.gif.

Howdy pmh1nic! smile.gif It's good to see you post. I've been stunned at the reaction I have gotten from so many collectors and dealers when they find out that I have such a roll. Most thought that they would never see an extant, original roll. The coins are beautiful and are happily residing with each other as they have for 71 years. I think whomever breaks that roll apart is going to have some serious explaining to do to get out of that bad coin karma! shocked.gif
