Yeah,I saw that set. Most of the better dates look good, although a few have problems.I probably would not have bid without pictures of the rest of the coins,at a least a picture of the album pages would suffice.Let us know how it turns out...

Look at the 1870 cent in the album. It looks like a 1943 steel cent.

Sounds like a good deal even though some of the coins aren't the greatest. Give it another year and the keys will be worth more than you paid. thumbsup2.gif

I saw that but I was unaware it existed.

overall i think it'll work out... i figure the 77, 09s, 72, and 08s are worth what i paid, the rest are free. i'll post pics once i get it..... and sell what i don't need to make up for the cost smile.gif

can we discuss the 77.... ?

i'm worried about it a lil bit... i haven't paid yet, i've got 10 days.. and 'no refunds'

from what i know, the N in ONE is the giveaway.. a 'shallow N' is real, anything else is fake. this one has the shallow N, but that whole area is shallow............ almost unnaturally shallow

the 7's look right though, which is another key area...

maybe i'm paranoid... but it's a relatively big purchase, i should be.

is it real?

how about the 9S -

the wood grain says it hasn't been messed with... it looks original, i'll eventually sell it, and the 77, to fund upgrades..... but, i dunno......... someone tell me to pay for this, or to run 27_laughing.gif

The 1877 is a genuine 1877. It has a slightly sunken second 7 along with the shallow N on the reverse. The shallow N is present on many 1870s issues, but most folks who alter the date do not know or have the expertise to make the second 7 lower than the first. The 1909-S also looks original.

thank you, i think that was all i needed to hear.... the buldge on the bottom of the T, and the wear all around that shallow N stills raises an eyebrow though. i'm not too worried though.... kinda excited

soon i'll have a full small cent collection minus the 1856.......... ugh,.. there's always a stopper isnt there 27_laughing.gif
