I recieved the coin today, and I am quite pleased. The coin is very sharply struck with full diamonds and feathertips. It has really nice luster which was tough to capture without a bad glare from the slab. Almost all the marks that are seen are on the slab itself. The dark spot on the jawline and on the reverse below the E is a shadow being cast by a mark on the slab. Personally I do not see any break in the luster. I believe the coin is solid AU58 and on any given day could come back 63. The reverse luster is as good as the obverse although not seen in the photo. Not bad for 135 bucks. Those lousy ebay pictures sometimes payoff.

That looks like an UNC coin to me.

Isn't that a bit of wear above the ear?

Thank your for all the kind comments. As any of you know who have collected this series, it is very difficult to find this date with a sharp strike. Many of the MS pieces show very mushy details, weak feather tips and diamonds, and many collecors will pay a premium for sharply struck examples. I think Hayden is right, there is the slightest amount of wear on hair, which would preclude this piece from an MS grade. However, I would personally rather have a high end AU piece with this strike than an average MS piece with a soft strike.
